Sign Up for a Springtime Swamp Tour in Louisiana Today!

Louisiana Swamp TourAirboat Adventures’ Springtime Swamp Tours in Louisiana gives everyone from lifetime residents to new visitors to “The Pelican State” an opportunity to see what makes Louisiana special. Just a 30 minute drive from New Orleans, Airboat Adventures provides a fast, fun, and safe way to see the inhabitants of the swamps characteristic to our state, from bald cypress trees hundreds of years old to newborn ibises and egrets.

As the company name suggests, the tours are conducted via airboats, long, shallow-bottomed vessels propelled by giants fans protected by large steel cages. The shallow bottom allows airboats to travel in shallow water where typical inboard or outboard boat engines would prove useless. The guides on the tours are experienced airboat captains with certifications by the US Coast Guard, so you and your group can relax and enjoy the scenery around you. What better way to take a springtime swamp tour in Louisiana than in a traditional transportation system that’s been used for over 80 years?

Each tour lasts between 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours. This gives you plenty of opportunities to see alligators, snakes, turtles, a wide variety of waterfowl, and much more. It’s also the best time to see mammals like white-tailed deer, raccoon, and nutria who normally become nocturnal in the heat of summer.

Airboat Adventures offers pick-up and drop-off options to all hotels in downtown New Orleans, easily scheduled by phone call. There are numerous airboats on-site so any size party can be accommodated, with 6-8 passenger boats for smaller parties and 15-27 passenger boats for large groups.

There are a variety of times available for tours:

  • 9:45 AM
  • 12:00 PM

One of the things that you have the chance to see while on a tour is an alligator. You might even see a nutria. This is an oversized river rat. As far as things to do in New Orleans, the swamp tour should be taken in the cooler months. This is when you have the chance to see more animals such as deer, raccoon’s and other mammals that don’t typically come out when it’s hot. There are also many birds in the area that have migrated south during the cold winter months. You can take your camera along on the tour to capture the beauty of nature in a way that many aren’t able to experience. One of the times that you can go on a tour is at sunset. This is an amazing opportunity that gives you a unique look at the swamp. Tours last for about two hours, so you need to wear comfortable clothing. You should also wear something that you don’t mind getting wet.
