Airboat Adventures is more than just a swamp tour company—it’s the continuation of a multi-generational Louisiana legacy rooted in the historic fishing village of Lafitte, Louisiana. Long before the company was founded in 2005, the family behind Airboat Adventures made a living working these very waters as commercial fishermen. Shrimping, crabbing, trapping, and navigating the bayous by boat was more than a livelihood—it was a way of life passed down through generations.

The town of Jean Lafitte, located just 30 minutes south of New Orleans, has always been a community built on water. Named after the legendary pirate Jean Lafitte, the town has a rich cultural heritage shaped by its deep ties to the seafood industry, its resilience in the face of hurricanes and floods, and its close-knit families who have relied on the bayou for survival. As the fishing industry changed and environmental pressures grew, the family saw an opportunity to preserve their connection to the land while sharing its beauty with others.

The owner began operating swamp tours in 2000, which eventually evolved into Airboat Adventures by 2005. The company was founded with a mission to offer authentic, educational, and unforgettable swamp tours through the wetlands the family has called home for generations. Today, the company operates on more than 20,000 acres of privately owned family land, giving guests exclusive access to some of the most untouched and ecologically rich areas of the Louisiana bayou.

What began with a single airboat and a handful of passionate captains has grown into one of the region’s most respected eco-tourism businesses. Still proudly family-owned and operated, Airboat Adventures employs team members who grew up on these bayous—many of whom are part of the founding family or lifelong friends. Each tour is led by experienced guides who offer more than facts—they share personal stories, cultural insights, and a deep respect for Louisiana’s unique ecosystems.

Whether gliding across the swamp on a high-speed airboat or cruising under the moss-draped cypress trees on a covered pontoon boat, guests experience the wild beauty of the bayou while learning about the importance of preserving it for future generations.

Airboat Adventures is built on legacy, community, and a love for the land.

It’s not just a tour, It’s an Adventure!
